The Chicago New Teacher Center’s (CNTC) partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has expanded throughout the city this year. First- and second-year teachers in CPS will be matched with full-time coaches that have similar content and grade/level experience. CNTC support includes: full-time, trained coaches to work with new teachers in their classrooms; monthly professional development aligned with the needs of beginning teachers; networking events; content-specific professional development; and online forums. ![]() New Teacher Success Story - First-year teacher Taiesha Woodson-Durham’s fifth and sixth graders at Altgeld Elementary had posted 1s and 2s on extended response to reading on the ISAT the year before.With coaching support from the Chicago New Teacher Center, Taiesha was able to thoughtfully and strategically help her students improve in reading and also write well about what they had read.
